Abstrak

This study explores the level of customer literacy regarding murabahah contracts implemented by BMT Agam Madani Panampuang in Jorong Surau Lauik, Ampek Angke, Agam Regency. Financial literacy in Islamic finance is particularly important because customers’ understanding of the mechanisms, rights, and risks associated with murabahah can influence their financing decisions, contract compliance, and overall satisfaction with the service. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with customers, direct observation of BMT operations, and document analysis of the murabahah products offered by the institution. Data analysis involved reduction, thematic presentation, and interpretation. Initial findings indicate that customer literacy levels are influenced by access to information, quality of service, and transparency in communicating costs and profit margins in murabahah contracts. Many customers acknowledge the agreed-upon acquisition price and profit margin policies, yet their understanding of their rightssuch as payment flexibility, repayment deadlines, and information disclosure obligationsvaries significantly. Educational initiatives provided by the BMT, staff interactions, and the use of clear, accessible language play a crucial role in enhancing customer comprehension. These findings suggest that strengthening Islamic financial literacy through regular training, simplified educational materials, and customer-friendly communication channels can improve trust and compliance with murabahah agreements.
