Abstrak

Plyometrics Training is a form of exercise that is popular among trainers because it has advantages over other exercises, namely that it stimulates eccentric and isotonic contractions of various muscle groups which have an impact on muscle strength, speed and agility at the same time. Agility refers to one’s ability to change direction quickly and precisely without losing balance. This ability is significant in all sport branches, particularly in soccer in which a player makes use of the lower limbs a lot. Agility is influenced by biomotor abilities, age, gender, fatigue, and body weight. Among the trainings to help improve soccer players’ agility is Plyometric Training Program. Objective: This research aimed to investigate whether Plyometric Training Program can help improve soccer players’ agility. Method: This research implemented narrative review method. The articles were retrieved from several online article databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and PEDro. In total, there were 10 journal articles for review. Findings: It is revealed that Plyometric Training Program helps improve the agility of soccer players. Suggestions: It is expected that the finding of this research is beneficial in the medical field, particularly in Physiotherapy. It is also suggested that future researchers can further investigate the factors causing the decrease of soccer players’ agility.
