KOLABORASI INDUSTRI - PERGURUAN TINGGI DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI GEN Z SEBAGAI WORKFORCE MASA DEPAN

Abstrak

Kemajuan teknologi digital dan perubahan industri global mengubah secara drastis jenis keterampilan yang dibutuhkan tenaga kerja modern. Generasi Z yang dalam beberapa tahun ke depan akan menjadi kelompok terbesar di pasar kerja dituntut untuk menguasai perpaduan antara kemampuan teknis dan soft skills yang sesuai dengan ekosistem kerja berbasis inovasi dan teknologi. Namun, berbagai studi menunjukkan masih adanya jarak antara kompetensi lulusan perguruan tinggi dan kebutuhan nyata dunia industri. Penelitian ini menelaah bentuk dan peran kemitraan antara sektor industri dan pendidikan tinggi dalam meningkatkan kesiapan Generasi Z memasuki dunia kerja. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif melalui telaah literatur dari jurnal bereputasi, regulasi pendidikan, serta laporan ketenagakerjaan. Hasil kajian mengindikasikan bahwa kolaborasi efektif dapat diwujudkan lewat kurikulum yang disejajarkan dengan kebutuhan industri, program magang dan pelatihan, riset terapan, serta pembelajaran yang mendorong penguatan keterampilan interpersonal. Kolaborasi tersebut meningkatkan kesiapan kerja mahasiswa, memperkuat relevansi pendidikan tinggi, dan mendukung pelaksanaan kebijakan MBKM. Implikasi penelitian menekankan perlunya membangun pola kemitraan berkelanjutan berbasis triple helix (pemerintah–industri–akademisi) guna mencetak sumber daya manusia yang tangguh dan berdaya saing global di era ekonomi digital.

The rapid development of digital technologies and the global shift in industrial practices have significantly altered the skill requirements of the modern labor market. As Generation Z is expected to make up the majority of the workforce in the coming decade, they are increasingly required to possess a mix of technical capabilities and essential soft skills suited to technologically driven and innovation-oriented work environments. Despite this, many studies continue to highlight a mismatch between the competencies produced by higher education institutions and those demanded by industry.This study explores how partnerships between industry and universities contribute to strengthening Generation Z’s preparedness for future employment. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research reviews literature from reputable national and international journals, educational policy documents, and labor-related reports. The results indicate that meaningful collaboration can take shape through industry-responsive curriculum development, internship and training initiatives, applied research collaborations, and learning approaches that enhance interpersonal skills. These forms of cooperation improve students’ readiness for the workforce, increase the relevance of higher education to industry needs, and align with the objectives of the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework.The study highlights the necessity of establishing long-term partnership models grounded in the triple-helix concept—linking government, industry, and academia—to build a highly capable and globally competitive talent pool in the digital economy era.
