ANALISIS KOMPARATIF PELANGGARAN HAK SIPIL DAN POLITIK DI MYANMAR PASCA-KUDETA 2021: PERBANDINGAN KERANGKA HUKUM INTERNASIONAL DENGAN RESPONS DOMESTIK PEMERINTAH MILITER

Abstrak

This study discusses violations of civil and political rights in Myanmar following the 2021 military coup. The situation has led to various restrictions on public freedoms, including limitations on freedom of expression, restrictions on public activities, and unfair legal processes. This research aims to identify the forms of violations, assess the actions of the military government based on international law, and examine the responses given by the Myanmar government. This study uses a qualitative method with a normative juridical approach supported by empirical data through interviews. Data were collected from literature studies and other relevant sources, then analyzed descriptively. The results show that violations of civil and political rights in Myanmar have continued after the coup. The actions of the military government do not reflect the principles of international law related to human rights protection. In addition, the policies implemented focus more on controlling domestic conditions, which results in limited protection of public rights. This study concludes that there are issues in the implementation of international law in Myanmar, and more serious efforts are needed to improve the protection of civil and political rights.
