PERAN KYAI DALAM PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER UNTUK MENGURANGI KEKERASAN VERBAL ANTAR SANTRI PUTRI DI PONDOK PESANTREN ROUDLOTUL HIDAYAH PAKIS TROWULAN MOJOKERTO

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kyai dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter guna mengurangi kekerasan verbal antar santri putri di lingkungan pesantren. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain studi lapangan yang dilaksanakan di Pondok Pesantren Roudlotul Hidayah Pakis Trowulan Mojokerto. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi dengan melibatkan kyai, pengurus pesantren, serta santri putri sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kyai memiliki peran sentral dalam pendidikan karakter melalui pengajaran keagamaan, keteladanan sikap, pembiasaan nilai-nilai positif, serta pengawasan terhadap aktivitas santri sehari-hari. Peran tersebut memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam membentuk sikap religius, kedisiplinan, tanggung jawab, dan perilaku moral santri. Namun demikian, kekerasan verbal antar santri putri masih ditemukan dalam bentuk yang relatif ringan, seperti ejekan, sindiran, pemberian julukan, serta penggunaan nada bicara yang kasar dalam komunikasi. Meskipun sering dianggap sebagai candaan, perilaku tersebut berpotensi menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan psikologis dan mengganggu keharmonisan hubungan sosial. Dalam mengatasi hal tersebut, kyai menerapkan pendekatan persuasif dan edukatif melalui pembinaan akhlak, penguatan etika komunikasi, serta penanaman nilai saling menghormati antar santri. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penguatan pendidikan karakter oleh kyai memiliki pengaruh signifikan dalam mengurangi kekerasan verbal, meskipun diperlukan upaya berkelanjutan untuk menciptakan lingkungan pesantren yang lebih harmonis dan berlandaskan nilai-nilai akhlakul karimah.
This study aims to examine the role of the kyai in strengthening character education to reduce verbal violence among female students in an Islamic boarding school environment. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a field study design conducted at Roudlotul Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, Pakis, Trowulan, Mojokerto. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving kyai, boarding school administrators, and female students as research subjects. The findings reveal that the kyai plays a central role in character education through religious instruction, exemplary behavior, habituation of positive values, and continuous supervision of students’ daily activities. These roles contribute significantly to the development of students’ religious attitudes, discipline, responsibility, and moral behavior. However, the study also finds that verbal violence among female students still occurs in relatively mild forms, such as teasing, sarcasm, labeling, and the use of harsh tones in communication. Although often perceived as a form of joking, such behaviors have the potential to cause psychological discomfort and disrupt social harmony. The kyai addresses this issue through persuasive and educational approaches, including moral guidance, reinforcement of communication ethics, and fostering mutual respect among students. The study concludes that strengthening character education led by the kyai has a significant impact on reducing verbal violence, although continuous efforts are still needed to create a more harmonious and ethically grounded boarding school environment.
