Water is a basic necessity for all living organisms; however, its quality continues to decline due to pollution and poor sanitation. Water pollution caused by wastewater and fecal contamination can lead to various diseases, such as diarrhea, dysentery, and cholera. Therefore, monitoring water quality is essential to protect public health. One alternative method for treating contaminated water is adsorption using bioadsorbents produced through the pyrolysis of coconut trunk sawdust. This study aimed to determine the effect of bioadsorbent particle size variation on the adsorption capacity of iron (Fe) and lead (Pb) in wastewater. The bioadsorbent was prepared in five particle sizes: 70, 100, 120, 140, and 200 mesh. The adsorption process was carried out using 0.5 g of adsorbent for Fe with a contact time of 150 minutes and 1 g of adsorbent for Pb with a contact time of 90 minutes in 50 mL of wastewater. Metal concentrations before and after adsorption were analyzed using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that smaller particle sizes resulted in higher adsorption capacities. The 200-mesh bioadsorbent exhibited the best performance, reducing the Fe concentration from 2.5849 to 0.0473 mg/L (98.2% removal efficiency) and the Pb concentration from 3.4260 to 0.0178 mg/L (99.5% removal efficiency). The results of this study indicate that particle size variation affects the adsorption efficiency of Fe and Pb, with the 200-mesh particle size providing the best performance among the particle sizes tested. Furthermore, the bioadsorbent produced from the pyrolysis of coconut trunk sawdust has the potential to serve as an effective, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative adsorbent for the treatment of heavy metal-contaminated wastewater
