SIKAP PEMILIH PEMULA TERHADAP PELAKSANAAN DAN HASIL PEMILU 2024: SURVEI PADA PESERTA DIDIK KELAS XII SMA KATOLIK SANG TIMUR JAKARTA
Kata Kunci:
Pemilih Pemula, Pemilu 2024, Antusiasme Memilih, Penerimaan Hasil Pemilu, Partisipasi PolitikAbstrak
First-time voters were a strategic group in Indonesia's 2024 general election, as Generation Z and millennials made up 56.45% of the permanent voter list. This study describes (1) first-time voters' enthusiasm for exercising their voting rights and the reasons behind it, and (2) their attitudes toward the 2024 election results, limited to the presidential race. A descriptive quantitative survey was conducted through an anonymous online questionnaire completed by 32 Grade XII students of SMA Katolik Sang Timur Jakarta on 7 May 2024. Data were analysed using frequencies, percentages, and 95% Wilson confidence intervals, and interpreted through theories of political participation, political culture, and acceptance of election outcomes (losers' consent). Of the respondents, 46.9% were very enthusiastic, 50.0% fairly enthusiastic, and 3.1% not enthusiastic. Civic responsibility was the dominant reason in the very enthusiastic group, whereas "merely a formality" (62.5%) and "registered by the neighbourhood administrator (RT/RW)" (43.8%) dominated the fairly enthusiastic group. In total, 84.4% were satisfied with the election results and 75.0% were neutral toward the Constitutional Court challenges. Attitudes were generally positive, yet for a considerable share of respondents enthusiasm appears administrative rather than intrinsic, suggesting that political education for first-time voters should foster more meaningful motivation. Given the small, non-random sample, the findings cannot be generalised.
