Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases among the population. An individual is classified as hypertensive when systolic blood pressure is ≥130 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure is ≥80 mmHg (Unger et al., 2020). Uncontrolled hypertension may lead to serious complications, including myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, hypertensive encephalopathy, chronic kidney disease, and hypertensive retinopathy. Non-pharmacological approaches based on spiritual and relaxation techniques, such as the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT), are considered potential complementary therapies to reduce blood pressure through relaxation mechanisms and autonomic nervous system regulation. Objective: To determine the effect of SEFT therapy on blood pressure reduction among elderly patients with hypertension based on a family nursing care approach. Methods: This study employed a descriptive case study design using a family nursing care approach, which included assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning/intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The subject of the study was the family of Mr. K diagnosed with hypertension in the Kedungmundu Community Health Center area, Semarang. The SEFT intervention was administered for three consecutive days, with a duration of approximately 15 minutes per session. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a calibrated sphygmomanometer. Results: The mean systolic blood pressure before the intervention was 168.4 mmHg and decreased to 152.7 mmHg after the intervention. The mean diastolic blood pressure decreased from 94.6 mmHg to 86.3 mmHg. A significant difference was observed between pre- and post-intervention measurements. Conclusion: SEFT therapy was effective in reducing blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension and may be considered a complementary intervention within family nursing care practice.
