Abstrak

Penelitian ini di latarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 145 Banca Kecamatan Baraka Kabupaten Enrekang. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil belajar siswa yang masih berada di bawah Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM) yang telah ditetapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa melalui penerapan strategi belajar PQ4R. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) merupakan jenis dalam penelitian ini yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri atas tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 145 Banca yang berjumlah 33 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes hasil belajar dan lembar observasi aktivitas siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus I nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa adalah 59,24 dengan persentase ketuntasan sebesar 45,45%. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan pada siklus II, terjadi peningkatan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan strategi belajar PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, dan Review) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 145 Banca Kecamatan Baraka Kabupaten Enrekang. Strategi ini efektif karena mendorong siswa untuk membaca secara aktif, memahami isi bacaan secara mendalam, serta mengulang kembali materi yang telah dipelajari.

This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 145 Banca, Baraka District, Enrekang Regency. This is evident in student learning outcomes, which are still below the established Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). The teacher-centered learning process and the lack of varied learning strategies result in students being less active and lacking in-depth understanding of the reading content. This study aims to determine the improvement in students' reading comprehension skills through the application of the PQ4R learning strategy. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 33 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 145 Banca. Data collection techniques included learning achievement tests and student activity observation sheets. The results showed that in Cycle I, the average student learning outcome was 59.24, with a completion percentage of 45.45%. After improvements in Cycle II, student activity and learning outcomes increased, achieving the set completion target. Students' activity in asking, answering, and actively participating in learning also improved significantly. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, dan Review) learning strategy can improve the reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 145 Banca, Baraka District, Enrekang Regency. This strategy is effective because it encourages students to read actively, understand the reading content in depth, and review previously learned material.
