Abstrak

As a student who is cloudy about elections and has never participated in a general election before, political science can help in providing understanding to many people about the importance of seeing candidates who have high integrity. The aim of this research is to determine the urgency of political education in the tertiary sector as a strategy for novice voters as ideological voters. Qualitative research method with data collection methods using interviews and observation. Bhinneka University PGRI student research informant. Analyze qualitative data and check the validity of the data. The research results showed that political education must be carried out in a structured manner and pay attention to the social and political context that is relevant to everyday life to ensure the effectiveness of the political education approach in understanding the concept of democracy among students. Higher education institutions play a very important role in providing political awareness for students, so that students also know the substance of elections. Political education in higher education has significant potential in forming critical attitudes and responsible political awareness among students. Internal factors that influence the effectiveness of political education in higher education include: 1) Students' political awareness, because not all students have political awareness and some even seem to not want to know about political affairs. 2) Binding decisions taken by students to participate in the political process. 3) Motivation or interest intrigue also influences the high level of student political participation. 4) The level of trust in the government is also an internal factor that influences the political participation of border communities. Meanwhile, external factors include: 1) Socio-economic conditions of students. 2) The figure of the presidential and vice presidential candidates also influences the high level of student political participation. 3) Mass mobilization, and 4) The role of community leaders and party actors.
