HUBUNGAN ANTARA INISIASI MENYUSU DINI (IMD) DENGAN KEBERHASILAN ASI EKSKLUSIF DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS TEMBILAHAN KOTA
Kata Kunci:
Inisiasi Menyusu Dini (IMD), ASI EksklusifAbstrak
The global infant mortality rate is 29 per 1,000 live births, whereas in Indonesia, the infant mortality rate is 21 per 1,000 live births. This figure still falls short of the target set for the 2030 SDGs—namely, 12 per 1,000 live births. Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) is a strategy to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates. To ensure successful exclusive breastfeeding, the mother must practice early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD) within the first hour after the baby is born. This study aims to determine the relationship between Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) and the success of exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Tembilahan Kota Community Health Center in 2026. This study employs a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was 264 babies and the sample size was 159 respondents. Sampling was conducted using a probability sampling technique, research instruments consisted of questionnaires, and data analysis involved univariate and bivariate methods. Based on the univariate analysis results, the majority of mothers (87 or 54.7%) did not practice early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD), while the minority (72 or 45.3%) did, The majority of mothers who did not succeed with exclusive breastfeeding numbered 85 (53.5%), while the minority who succeeded numbered 74 (46.5%). Based on the chi-square test, a p-value of 0.017 was obtained; since the p-value is less than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, indicating a relationship between Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) and successful exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Tembilahan Kota Community Health Center in 2026. It is recommended that healthcare workers at the Tembilahan Kota Community Health Center (Puskesmas) provide information to mothers and their husbands regarding Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) and exclusive breastfeeding, so that mothers are willing to practice both.
