Abstrak

Perkembangan media digital, khususnya video berdurasi pendek seperti TikTok, Instagram Reels, dan YouTube Shorts, telah menjadi bagian dari kehidupan sehari-hari mahasiswa Generasi Z. Pola konsumsi media ini diduga memengaruhi kemampuan konsentrasi belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh intensitas menonton video pendek terhadap tingkat konsentrasi belajar mahasiswa Generasi Z di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner skala Likert terhadap 100 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji validitas, reliabilitas, normalitas, linearitas, serta regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh instrumen penelitian valid dan reliabel, serta data berdistribusi normal dan memiliki hubungan linear. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan nilai signifikansi < 0,001 (< 0,05), sehingga hipotesis alternatif diterima. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa intensitas menonton video pendek berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap konsentrasi belajar mahasiswa Generasi Z di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi mahasiswa dan institusi pendidikan dalam mengelola penggunaan media digital agar tidak mengganggu proses belajar.

The rapid development of digital media, particularly short-form video platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, has become an integral part of Generation Z students’ daily lives. This pattern of media consumption is suspected to influence students’ learning concentration. This study aims to analyze the effect of short-form video watching intensity on the learning concentration of Generation Z university students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis included validity, reliability, normality, linearity tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that all research instruments were valid and reliable, and the data were normally distributed with a linear relationship between variables. The regression analysis revealed a significance value of < 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the intensity of watching short-form videos has a significant effect on the learning concentration of Generation Z students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study is expected to provide empirical insights for students and educational institutions in managing digital media use to support effective learning.
