Hypothermia in newborns is one of the primary causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality if left unmanaged. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (EIB/IMD) on the percentage of hypothermia in newborns at the Nursery Room of Santosa Hospital Bandung Kopo in 2026. This research applied a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group. The population consisted of all newborns at Santosa Hospital Bandung Kopo, with a sample size of 50 infants selected through total sampling technique. Axillary body temperature was measured before and after a one-hour IMD intervention. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the McNemar Test at a significance level of a = 0.05. The results showed that prior to IMD, 37 infants (74.0%) suffered from hypothermia. Following the IMD intervention, the proportion of hypothermic infants dropped significantly to 6 infants (12.0%), whereas 44 infants (88.0%) reached normal body temperature. The McNemar test yielded a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), rejecting H0 and accepting H1. In conclusion, Early Initiation of Breastfeeding significantly influences the reduction of hypothermia incidence in newborns at Santosa Hospital Bandung Kopo.
