Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that requires medication adherence to control blood glucose levels and prevent complications. One of the factors suspected to influence medication adherence is self-stigma. This study aimed to determine the correlation between self-stigma levels and medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This study employed a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 50 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, with a sample of 44 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Self-stigma was measured using the Diabetes Self-Stigma Scale (DSSS), while medication adherence was assessed using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8). Data were analyzed using Spearman's rho test. This study received ethical approval from Hafshawaty Zainul Hasan University with Ethical Clearance Number 453/KEPK-UNHASA/III/2026. The results showed that most respondents had a high level of self-stigma (17 respondents, 38.6%), while the majority had low medication adherence (27 respondents, 61.4%). The Spearman's rho test yielded a p-value of 0.059 with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.287, indicating that there was no statistically significant correlation between self-stigma levels and medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The absence of a significant correlation suggests that medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is not solely influenced by self-stigma. Other factors, such as the level of knowledge, family support, motivation, and access to healthcare services, may also contribute to medication adherence.
