IMPLEMENTASI ETIKA BISNIS SYARIAH DALAM PERLINDUNGAN KONSUMEN: STUDI KASUS GAMBIA DEPARTMENT STORE PONDOKMODERN DARUSSALAM GONTOR

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi etika bisnis syariah dalam perlindungan konsumen pada Gambia Department Store Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap pihak pengelola serta observasi langsung di lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan etika bisnis syariah tercermin dalam lima aspek utama. Pertama, penguasaan pengetahuan produk dilakukan dengan pemeriksaan kelayakan, pengenalan kandungan yang berpotensi haram seperti babi atau kolagen tertentu, serta pengambilan produk baru dalam jumlah terbatas untuk uji coba di lingkungan pondok yang selektif. Kedua, perlindungan konsumen diwujudkan melalui pengecekan berkala atas kehalalan dan masa kedaluwarsa, penarikan barang cepat rusak sebelum jatuh tempo, serta retur produk bermasalah. Ketiga, penanganan keluhan dilakukan secara terbuka, baik dari santri maupun para guru pengabdian, dengan mencatat adanya keluhan umum seperti antrean panjang serta tindak tegas terhadap kasus pencurian. Keempat, kebijakan retur dan tukar barang menyesuaikan aturan distributor, baik melalui sistem potong nota maupun tukar guling. Kelima, persaingan harga lebih difokuskan pada koperasi internal pondok, di mana Gambia Department Store mampu menawarkan harga relatif lebih murah dibandingkan kompetitor. Tantangan yang dihadapi adalah menjaga kehalalan, kualitas, dan kesesuaian produk. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa praktik etika bisnis syariah telah diterapkan dengan baik, meskipun diperlukan optimalisasi melalui selektivitas produk serta penguatan mekanisme pengawasan.

This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic business ethics in consumer protection at Gambia Department Store, Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, using in-depth interviews with store management and direct observation in the field. The findings reveal that the application of Islamic business ethics is reflected in five main aspects. First, product knowledge is enhanced through eligibility checks, identification of potentially unlawful ingredients such as pork or certain collagen, and limited trials of new products in the selective environment of the pesantren. Second, consumer protection is carried out through periodic inspection of halal certification and expiration dates, withdrawal of perishable goods before they expire, and return of defective products. Third, complaints are handled openly, both from students and teachers, including common issues such as long queues and strict action against theft cases. Fourth, return and exchange policies are adjusted to distributor regulations, either through invoice deduction or product replacement. Fifth, price competition is mainly directed towards internal cooperative stores, where Gambia Department Store generally offers more affordable prices compared to its competitors. The main challenges identified are ensuring halal status, product quality, and consumer needs. The study concludes that the practice of Islamic business ethics has been implemented fairly well, although further optimization is still required through selective product choices and strengthening of monitoring mechanisms.
