Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan media kartu bergambar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas II di SD Negeri 153 Lancar Tiang, Tebo Ilir. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa yang berdampak pada hasil belajar secara keseluruhan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II yang berjumlah 17 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan tes kemampuan membaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL berbantuan media kartu bergambar dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa dan kemampuan membaca permulaan mereka. Pada siklus I, hasil belajar siswa mencapai persentase ketuntasan sebesar 58,82%, dan meningkat menjadi 100% pada siklus II. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model Problem Based Learning berbantuan media kartu bergambar efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas II di SDN 153 Lancar Tiang.

This study aims to determine the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by picture card media in improving beginning reading skills in second grade students at Elementary School 153 Lancar Tiang, Tebo Ilir. The background of this study is based on the low beginning reading skills of students which have an impact on overall learning outcomes. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 17 second grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and reading ability tests. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the PBL model assisted by picture card media can improve students' active participation and their beginning reading skills. In cycle I, student learning outcomes reached a completion percentage of 58.82%, and increased to 100% in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by picture card media is effective in improving the beginning reading skills of grade II students at SDN 153 Lancar Tiang.
