This research examines the application of narrative counseling to increase student learning independence at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga. The problem in this study was: (1) What is the description of the degree of learning independence of students in SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga?, (2) How is the implementation of narrative counseling to improve students learning independence of students in SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga?, (3) Can the application of narrative counseling to improve students learning independence of students in SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga?. The purpose of this research is to find out: (1) To find out the level of learning independence of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga, (2) To find out the implementation of Narrative Counseling to increase student learning independence at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga, (3) To find out what Narrative Counseling can do. increasing student learning independence at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga. This research approach is quantitative research with a true-experimental design research type with the randomized pretest-posttest control group design model. The population in this study were students in classes X1-A, X2-B, X3-C, X4-D, and The research sample was 24 students with classification of 12 students as the experimental group and 12 students as the control group. Data collection techniques were carried out using the learning independence scale and observation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis using the t-test. The results of the research show that: (1) The description of the level of learning independence of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga before being given narrative counseling was in the "low" category and after being given treatment in the form of narrative counseling it could increase students' learning independence in the "high" category. (2) Implementation of narrative counseling to increase student learning independence at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga is carried out in 6 meetings in stages: (a) Providing information, (b) Remembering narratives, (c) Objectifying narratives, (d) Subjectifying narratives, (e) Metaphorizing narratives, and (f) Projecting narratives. During the implementation of each stage of narrative counseling, students showed participation in the high category. (3) The implementation of narrative counseling can increase student learning independence at SMA Negeri 1 Kontunaga.
