Abstrak

The Dek Ulah dance work is inspired by the social phenomenon of Sumbang duo baleh related to sumbang bagaua and sumbang kurenah. This Interest is based on seeing that over time the attitudes and behavior of women Have begun to deteriorate, resulting in negative views from society. The focus of The problem that became the idea to be interpreted is about changes in women’s Attitudes and behavior today. This work uses a semiotic theory approach about Symbols that are applied in the work on bad attitudes and ends in awareness by Using symbols related to good ethics and surrender to Allah subhanawataalah. This work is worked on in three streams of atmosphere work with social themes And dramatic types. The method used by the artist is referring to the book written By M. Alma Hawkins, translated by Y. Sumandiyo Hadi, namely the method of Exploration, improvisation, and evaluation. To strengthen the atmosphere in this Work, the artist uses live techno music that is appropriate to the work being Worked on and uses Minangkabau instruments that are collaborated with recorded Techno music as music that strengthens the atmosphere in this dance. The dancers Who support this work consist of eight female dancers. Of course, the creator’s Choice of dancers is in line with the character, good technique and also able to Apply the ideas and ideas of the work in uncovering the problem that the creator Wants. This dance work, entitled Dek Ulah, was created in the form of Contemporary dance and was performed at the Hoeridjah Adam performance Building on July 15 2025.
