Rapid technological developments have brought about significant changes in the financial system. College students, particularly those from Generation Z, are among the groups most likely to use digital financial services due to their ease of access, attractive features, and efficiency. Generation Z is a productive age group that grew up in the digital era. This convenience can also pose various challenges, such as increased consumer behavior, impulsive shopping tendencies, data security risks, and the importance of personal financial literacy and management. This study used a quantitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires distributed to students living away from home. Respondents in this study had varying pocket money receipt patterns: weekly, biweekly, and monthly. The results showed that budgeting significantly reduced consumer behavior among students living away from home. Students who are able to manage their budgets well tend to have more controlled consumption levels. Thus, budgeting can be an effective strategy in helping students living away from home manage their finances more wisely and reduce consumer behavior.
