Digital pedagogical transformation in the era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 presents complex psychopedagogical challenges for Generation Alpha, a cohort that has grown up entirely within a digital ecosystem yet does not necessarily possess self-regulatory maturity commensurate with its technological fluency. This article critically examines the role of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the flipped-learning model as a strategy to strengthen self-regulated learning (SRL), manage cognitive load, and mitigate learning anxiety among elementary school students. The review was conducted through a narrative-thematic literature approach informed by the reporting-transparency principles of PRISMA 2020, drawing on peer-reviewed literature published between 2011 and 2026 and retrieved through academic search engines and databases including Scopus-indexed journals, ScienceDirect, Frontiers, PubMed Central, MDPI, the ACM Digital Library, SAGE, and SINTA-indexed Indonesian journals. Synthesis of more than twenty-five primary sources indicates that adaptive AI agents-including intelligent tutoring systems, generative AI scaffolding, and conversational chatbots-can function as metacognitive scaffolds during the pre-class phase, in ways theoretically consistent with Zimmerman\u2019s three phases of self-regulation and with Sweller\u2019s account of extraneous-germane cognitive load management. Recent quantitative evidence, including small-to-moderate meta-analyses, shows statistically significant but heterogeneous effects that depend heavily on instructional design quality rather than on technological sophistication alone. The article argues that the benefit of AI in flipped learning is conditional: it can strengthen cognitive readiness and lower pre-class evaluative pressure, but it also carries risks of over-reliance, digital access gaps, and data-ethics concerns that must be deliberately managed by educators and policymakers. The review proposes a revised conceptual framework-AI-Driven Flipped Scaffolding for Cognitive Well-being-along with practical recommendations for elementary school teachers, education policymakers, and a future research agenda in the Indonesian context.
