DESKRIPSI MAKNA UPACARA TOBUS HUNING DALAM UPACARA ADAT PERNIKAHAN SUKU SIMALUNGUN DI DESA SARIBUDOLOK KECAMATAN SILIMAKUTA KABUPATEN SIMALUNGUN

Abstrak

The Simalungun Batak community, which is one of the tribes that inhabit North Sumatra Province, has its own tradition, namely the Tobus Huning ceremony. The Tobus Huning tradition or ceremony is one of the wedding events provided specifically for the bride and groom to express their gratitude to their parents, especially to the mother (inang) who gave birth, cared for, raised, sent to school, educated and taught good things. until adulthood with the aim that the household being built will receive blessings from God Almighty. In the Tobus Huning incident, many signs or symbols were found to have a function and meaning, then these signs or symbols were analyzed using Charles Sanders Pierce's theory. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are based on interviews and literature study. Some of the symbols found in the tobus huning ceremony are Demban, Hapas, Huning/turmeric, Timbaho ​​and Ringgit/Money. All these symbols have meaning.
