The development of learners is a complex process encompassing cognitive, social, emotional, and moral dimensions. This article aims to examine several developmental theories that serve as important foundations in education, namely Jean Piaget's cognitive development theory, Lev Vygotsky's social constructivism theory, Erik Erikson's psychosocial theory, Lawrence Kohlberg's moral development theory, and Albert Bandura's social learning theory. The study employs a literature review approach by analyzing the core concepts of each theory along with their relevance to learning practices. The findings indicate that Piaget emphasizes the child's role as an active learner who constructs knowledge through universal stages of thinking, while Vygotsky highlights the importance of social and cultural interaction through the concepts of the Zone of Proximal Development and scaffolding. Erikson explains that human development occurs throughout the lifespan through a series of psychosocial crises, while Kohlberg outlines the stages of individual moral reasoning from the preconventional to the postconventional level. Meanwhile, Bandura asserts that learners' behavior is largely shaped through processes of observation, imitation, and vicarious reinforcement of models in their surrounding environment. These five theories complement one another and provide a more comprehensive picture of how learners grow and develop. Understanding these theories is expected to help prospective educators design learning strategies that align with learners' overall stages of development.
